Description
The Wind in The Willows is one of the most popular children’s stories ever written and this musical adaptation captures the simple charm and magic of this enchanting story. Originally written for a professional company, the show can be staged with just six adult actors and six children, but there is considerable scope for those wishing to use a much larger cast. It was first produced at The Gardner Arts Centre in Brighton in 1985 where it ran for 40 performances and broke all previous box office records for a Christmas show there. It has enjoyed numerous productions throughout the UK, Europe and America since.
The story follows the adventures of Toad, Rat, Mole and Badger. Toad’s obsession with motor cars, Rat’s riverbank picnics, Mole’s adventures in the Wild Wood, and the eventual recapture of Toad Hall under the fatherly guidance of Badger are all included in this delightful musical, which concentrates as much on character as it does on plot.
Minimum cast size (with some cast members doubling parts): 6 adults and 6 children. But this show works very well with a much larger cast.
